Default my ST TDCI rebuild *update 06/04/10*

It's an 2007 ST TDCI with 47k on the clock that didn't stop in time!

As found in the salvage yard

loading trailer!

at home washed

repair started

dash change is a pain!
got the old one out ok today tho..

front end straight again

will be a slow project as front end parts are either stupidly expensive new or rare secondhand, so will take some time to source them all

Had a good day today got the new dashboard fitted

the interior is now almost complete, just need a plastic cover for the driver seat that broke when the pretensioners fired.

But you missed that we had the engine running no serious problems and the battery does seem to be OK. The engine was probably last run end of Novemebr when it was crashed. We also forgot to fit the A pillar covers which are in the house to keep clean. A good half day as we did not start until 12.00.

forgot to mention that, got the engine running ok, slight rumble from a tensioner on the aux belt.
found that the bottom rad hose had been rubbing on something so that also needs changing, could have been nasty if we hadn't spotted it..

been parts collecting over the past few weeks and huge thanks go to my dad who today collected a complete front bumper and grills from south of birmingham, Had just about given up trying to find one and was about to spend £400 on a bare bumper from ford, so to find this is a massive bonus..

I now have just about every part to complete the rebuild so it shouldn't be long now

Got a front panel off a very low mileage st tdci even the correct stickers are still on it!

not to mention a race car that HAS to be ready for April 17th that is my priority..

As instructed the nearside door trims are off, the nearside mirror and the front nearside door window chrome trim, the washers on the bonnet and the front wheel arch liners. All undamaged. Tomorrow night will be the door handles, the rear door chrome window trim and the washer pipes and electrics on the bonnet. The wheels back on then I might have a rest.

Went to help Steve get his latest acquisition over to the paint shop, It does look good, the only problem I could find was I needed my ear plugs in to get rid of the oil burner sound….LOL

no m8 sounds like the timing chain tensioners, top end rattling like hell to a point that it is now parked up undriveable.
removed the front bank hydrolic followers to see if it was them and they seem fine, basicly far too much aggro to try and fix, getting the timing chain cover off is a mamoth job insitue.
so it's of to the knackers yard for my loyal if thirsty st200

So what do you call "Thirsty", my trusty old S2 gets

6 mpg at Teesside Autodrome
9 mpg at the Ring
18 mpg towing
25 mpg normal average
32.7 mpg when Annette's driving

I suppose after the new one gets on the road if it's less than 50 and you'll be complaining...LOL

No problem with the tow M8, it was a pleasure, the Audi didn't even notice your car on the back but I did feel it leaning over to the passenger side when you sat in.....!..! Race diet, so when does that kick in? (same time as mine no doubt....tomorrow)

I have gone down to belt holes in recent weeks, the race diet has been ongoing for a month now!!
as for mpg I will be happy with 44mpg average, far better than the 23 I see now (or did when it was running!)
ps NSSCC form went in the post this morning

I did actually notice, but would never let you know that you were looking slimmer than before. I lost ½ stone last time off then put it all back on when I went offshore due to the "Cheesecake Diet" , but some of it is starting to drop off again, must be gearbox stress making me lose weight....

Lesley is expecting the form and I would also send off the entry for the BARC race meeting ASAP in case it fills up quickly.
